Zack Snyder’s 300: Born of an Empire

Zack Snyder’s 300: Born of an Empire | Trailer | Dwayne Johnson, Henry Cavill

Though not yet official, should Snyder’s deal with Warner Bros. go through for the 300 prequel show, it would mark a few major career milestones for the filmmaker. Despite their relationship getting off to a strong start with the 2006 movie as well as Watchmen and the early DC Extended Universe installments, Snyder and WB’s partnership came to an end after his departure from Justice League, both for creative reasons and a family tragedy. He would later team with them for the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a new version of the DCEU crossover with far more footage, though even that was marred by interference from the studio.

Given Snyder has since gone on to enjoy a more creatively free relationship with Netflix on both the Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon franchises, it may come as a surprise to some that he would be going back to the studio for anything other than the in-development DC Universe reboot. Though it’s unclear if he would be directing the entire 300 prequel show or just the pilot, he already has a full docket developing further installments of both Netflix properties. Only tackling an episode or two of the show in comparison to a full blockbuster film seems like a more feasible undertaking for Snyder to allow room for these other projects.
